Deep

  Deep,deep,deep is my shame
So red, so full, so bright
  So clearly reflected
On the dear faces of those
  Nearest me

Down, down, down is my gaze
My eyes are cast upon the floor
  To that hard stony surface
  That shows me more mercy
  Than you

Hot, hot, burning hot is my face
My blood boils within my veins
  Nothing on earth
Could cool the burning hell I alone
  Have created

Dumb, dumb, dumb as an ox
My shame has made me silent
  My lips are stilled
And my tongue is nailed to the roof
  Of my mouth

Stone, stone, stone I have become
  Frozen, rooted, and held fast
  My own limbs rail
  Against me and quietly
  Make their mutiny plain

Deep, deep, deep is my shame
So red, so full, so bright
  So clearly reflected
On the dear faces of those
  Nearest me
